Fairchild Publications’ DNR Magazine and DNRNews.com, a publication of Conde Nast, is folding. The 116-year-old magazine which described itself as the “industry standard for news, fashion trends, and business,” will now become a Thursday insert special in the mothership WomensWearDaily (WWD). In a rather unspectacular ending for the 116-year-old title, and similar to another men’s magazine Men’s Vogue which recently “folded into” its sister publication Vogue, marks an interesting trend in the demise of men’s pubs, especially fashion-related.
Conde Nast released this statement on Friday, November 21: “With the men’s and women’s apparel businesses sharing many of the same issues, we believe that integrating men’s coverage through WWD’s daily print and digital resources is the best way to serve our global audience,” said Patrick McCarthy, editorial director of W, WWD and Footwear News. “In addition to daily men’s coverage in print and online, WWD will publish in-depth WWDMen’s reports every Thursday beginning in January, special sections during key fashion events, and WWDMen’s Collections magazines twice each year. WWD.com will add a dedicated WWDMen’s channel in December.”
The last issue of DNR will be published this week, with the November 24th issue.
