It’ll be just in time for back-to-school when The Gap, under designer Patrick Robinson, launches its iconic old 1969 collection featuring a 2-year-overahul of its denim.
New silhouettes will arrive in Gap stores in August featuring high-end rinses and washes, skinny legs, boot cuts, and boyfriend jeans all at $69 price tags. Interestingly the lower price point for the “premium fit” collection is causing some concern among premium denim brands in terms of competition.
Part of the Gap’s 1969 collection will also feature vests, tailored-like fitted jackets, and tops. One has to wonder if the 1969 collection will bring with it new life for the brand and a ripple effect of many other 1969-styles from other brands. Viva la retro.
