Jared Gold is well-known as an avant-garde designer for turning historical garments into ready-to-wear street fashion. At his highly anticipated show from his Black Chandelier label on March 14th held at the beautifully historic Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, he presented a collection of distilled Victorian garments with Louis the XIV style, models in massive wigs, colorful tights, all combined with a huge dose of fanfare as they strutted down a 190-foot long catwalk.

Part art-circus, part fashion show, Jared Gold is known for doing other-worldy designs and attracting celebrity friends that run the transsexual gamut. At this event, hundreds of people attended as one of the highlights closing out LA Fashion Week, including an extra dose of camera crews ready to shoot the celeb-studded audience.

What made the show also interesting however was the pop-up retail concept selling select items presented from the show and from Jared Gold’s Black Chandelier collection and streetwear division in a retail space located at the beginning of the runway. Rarely does this happen -where you can actually buy product right from the show. People loved it so much that it was nearly impossible to make your way into the pop-up retail space.

With more than 50 different looks presented and the retail concept closing out the evening, it provided fans instant gratification, which is where fashion shows like this are headed.

The show closed with local music deviants, Miss Derringer, playing a customized set.
