Crew of “Endless Bummer” including Kevin Lyman and John Drury, co-writers, and actors Matthew Lillard and Khan Chittenden
On June 28 in Ventura, CA, fans of summer surf flicks got a pre-screening of the highly anticipated movie “Endless Bummer” which was executive produced and co-written by the Vans Warped Tour producer and founder, Kevin Lyman. The movie, to be released on DVD by National Lampoon this fall, traces a group of teens for 24 hours as they track down a thief that stole one of their coveted surfboards given to them by the Big Kahuna played by actor Matthew Lillard. This funny group of surfers and their babes trek all the way to the much-despised “Valley” to catch the thief.
For those who loved “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Lords of Dogtown,” and even “Blue Crush,” “Endless Bummer” is the next generation of hilarious summer cult-flicks, especially given it’s epic sound track. Featuring a cross section of musicians remaking early 80’s faves, the soundtrack features Pennywise, Katy Perry, Joan Jett (who also has a role in the movie as the oracle “Dell”), The Circle Jerks, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, The Aggrolites, The Briggs, The Dollyrots, and others.
Cast of “Endless Bummer”
The original premise started out with a true story from a Ventura O.G. surfer and this board that kept disappearing. At the press conference, Kevin Lyman said that it actually took 8 years to make the movie.
“It’s a coming of age, surf story, and we’re not movie writers so it took us awhile,” said Kevin. With the rest of the cast and crew on hand, including co-writer John “JD” Drury, and lead actors Matthew Lillard and Khan Chittenden, the premiere launched into a series of parties featuring a variety of musicians throughout the night in Ventura.
